Several notable sales kick off 2026, two 1/24 selling for over $2,500 while three promotional 1/64 diecasts took in impressive sales figures.

Top-five most expensive 1/24 sales of January 2026

A custom, a prototype, a highly sought-after signature and two grails from drivers still competing in the Cup Series highlight the top eBay 1/24 sales for January.

Earning another spot on the top-five this month is a one-of-a-kind custom from JDK Customs, Dale Earnhardt’s 1987 Chevrolet Celebrity that The Intimidator raced in the Busch Grand National Series.

The Celebrity has never been produced as a diecast, but JDK Customs converted a Racing Champions diecast (with opening hood) into one of Earnhardt’s Busch rides for 1987. This included a nose swap, re-shaping of the side window, drilling of the A-pillars and the addition of posts, according to Jim Kennedy, the man behind JDK Customs. He added that the chassis and interior were detailed, and the outside bore custom decals from Retro Racing Designs that includes an accurate Dale Earnhardt Chevy dealership logo.

The listing states this is the only replica of this Earnhardt ride Kennedy will produce, making it “truly a 1 of 1 piece,” he stated on the listing.

Twenty-six bids were entered for Earnhardt’s No. 8 with the proverbial gavel hammering down for a sale price of $993.

JDK Customs’ 1987 Earnhardt Celebrity is the second 1/24 from the custom maker to earn a spot on the monthly top-five list in the last three months. In November, a 1979 Earnhardt Buick Century custom, which The Intimidator raced in the 1979 Daytona 500, sold for $860.

Denny Hamlin’s 2016 Daytona 500 Raced Win is a highly sought-after 1/24 in any guise, and it earns the No. 4 spot this month. Hamlin hoisted his first Harley J. Earl Trophy after racing from fourth to first on the final lap, beating out Martin Truex Jr. by 0.010 seconds.

Hamlin’s 2016 Daytona 500 Raced Win included a production run of 1,057 ARC and 150 Elite examples, but the “rarest” accolade goes to the 72 Color Chrome versions. One Color Chrome example sold Jan. 24 for $1,000.

An in-person signed ARC version that was the No. 4 priciest sale of July 2025. It also sold for $1,000.

In 2011, Chase Elliott became the youngest winner of the Snowball Derby, taking the win just a few days after turning 16. Elliott, after recovering from a crash on a restart, battled through the field and made several pit stops to fix the damage to the rear of his late model. He then survived a five-lap dash to earn the victory in his No. 9 Aaron’s car.

Elliott’s Snowball Derby winner was limited to just 150 examples sold through Elliott’s website. As such, NASCAR’s most popular driver’s Snowball Derby Raced Win has remained a grail for Elliott fans. A year ago, one of the 150 examples, despite not having its box or certificate of authenticity, still commanded $920. Another example sold Jan. 17, with its COA and bottom box, for a staggering $1,800, the third-priciest sale of the month.

Despite that impressive price, it pales in comparison to the top two sales of January, both of which neared the $3,000 mark.

At No. 2 is a diecast marking NASCAR’s first year of competition and the man who prompted the Petty legacy.

In 1999, Racing Champions released a lineup of diecasts celebrating Petty Racing’s 50th anniversary. Among the 1/24s produced was Lee Petty’s 1949 Plymouth Deluxe. Petty competed in six of the eight Strictly Stock Series races in 1949, highlighted by finishes of second, first and second in the final three races of the season in his Plymouth Deluxe. The elder Petty would compete in over 400 races in NASCAR’s top division from 1949 to 1964, earning 54 wins and three championships. He died in 2000, not long after Racing Champions commemorated his Plymouth from NASCAR’s inaugural season.

A triple-signed version of Petty’s No. 42 Plymouth Deluxe, signed on the hood, rear deck and roof, including Petty inscribing his 1950 model had 86 horsepower, sold Jan. 26 for an incredible $2,795.

Darrell Waltrip is unquestionably one of NASCAR’s most prolific personalities, and with 84 wins and three Cup titles, he’s also one of its most victorious. Waltrip, like other prolific drivers of the 1990s, became an owner-driver, fielding his No. 17 Western Auto Lumina beginning in 1991. Waltrip earned two victories that year, but by 1992, the sun was beginning to set on Waltrip’s success. From 1993 to his retirement in 2000, Waltrip would go winless in 243 races, and he earned just two top-fives in his final four seasons.

However, Waltrip completed a memorable 1992 season, earning 13 top-10s, 10 top-fives and three wins. His three wins during the season came in a six-race stretch, the final of which was a Crown Jewel, the Southern 500 at Darlington. Waltrip only took fuel in his final pit stop as rain threatened the race. Waltrip led six laps, but on lap 298 of 267, the race was stopped due to weather and was later ended without resuming, earning the then 45-year-old driver his final Cup Series win.

Waltrip’s final trip to victory lane was celebrated with a Lionel Racing NASCAR Classics 1/24 and 1/64 releases in 2018. The 1/24 production run included 517 ARC examples and 336 autographed versions. That final product looks noticeably different from the diecast taking the top spot for most expensive sale in January, however.

There were reportedly five prototypes made of Waltrip’s 1992 Southern 500 winner. These protos included bright orange stripe encircling the bottom portion of the Lumina and on the Western Auto logo on the hood. This was adjusted to a more dayglo red in the production run, which was more accurate to how the No. 17 appeared on track.

Waltrip’s last Raced Win 1/24 is already desirable among collectors, with recent sales showing two ARC examples selling on eBay for $250 and a signed version trading hands at $499. One of the prototypes commanded a far higher figure, however. On Jan. 9, a prototype of Waltrip’s 1992 Southern 500 win sold for a staggering $2,900, kicking off 2026 eBay sales with a pricey bang.

Top-five most expensive 1/64 sales of January 2026

One of the most sought-after 1/64 promo cars is from a NASCAR name more known as a crew chief than a driver, Paul Wolfe.

Wolfe made 16 starts in the Busch Series from 2003-05 driving for Tommy Baldwin and, after Baldwin sold the team, for Ray Evernham. During his 16-race stint, Baldwin earned one top-10 in 2005. Though Wolfe had an unremarkable career behind the wheel — he was replaced during the 2005 season by Kasey Kahne and Jeremy Mayfield — his final season spurred an incredibly hard-to-find promotional diecast.

Wolfe drove the No. 6 Country Crock car at Fontana in the second race of the 2005 Busch season, finishing 26th and on the lead lap. A promotional 1/64 diecast of Wolfe’s Country Crock No. 6 Dodge was produced by Action and has become a grail for many collectors, particular those who appreciate the obscure.

Wolfe’s Country Crock ride does not come up for sale often, and as such, one example, still in its packaging and signed by Wolfe, sold Jan. 25 for $119.

At. No. 4 is Jimmie Johnson’s 2016 Homestead Raced Win, which secured Johnson his seventh Cup Series title.

Johnson secured wins in the Round of 12 and Round of 8 to claim a spot in the Championship Four that year at Homestead, though it looked late in the race as if his seventh title would elude him that year. Carl Edwards and Joey Logano looked poised to battle for the title, but Edwards wrecked attempting to block Logano on a late restart, setting up an overtime finish. Johnson worked his way forward in the melee and took the lead from Kyle Larson while approaching the white flag and held on to earn his “Seven-Time” moniker.

Johnson’s championship-clinching Raced Win 1/64 commanded $125 Jan. 20.

Kyle Busch occupies spots No. 2 and 3 this month, and both of those sales are for his 2012 No. 54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry promo car. Offered as an exclusive from Kyle Busch Motorsports, the Nationwide Series 1/64 was offered for free with the purchase of the 1/24, though this wasn’t reportedly well advertised. Even soon after its release, the 1/64 version was commanding upwards of three figures, and its desirability hasn’t apparently waned.

Two versions sold this month for $150 and $160.

As outlined in the Most Expensive eBay Diecast Sales of 2025, Red Bull Racing cars remain among the current priciest 1/64s available. From May through December, seven of the top-24 1/64 sales of 2025 were Red Bull cars.

This year has begun in a similar fashion. Kasey Kahne’s 2011 No. 4 Red Bull Toyota sold Jan. 26 for $165. Kahne earned one win, eight top fives and 15 top 10s in 2011 before moving to Hendrick Motorsports in 2012.

January’s top sale is the first time in four months the priciest 1/64 of the month did not surpass $200.
