Publisher’s note: This article has been updated with confirmed information from Lionel Racing. Also, a previous version of this article incorrectly listed the MOQ number for 1/64 diecast

Lionel Racing announced Friday that all new 1/64-scale Cup Series diecasts released on or after June 20 will have a diecast chassis and rubber tires while the MSRP will remain the same. Additionally, more 1/64 scale diecasts could now be produced with the company lowering the minimum order quantity to 1,500 units.

Lionel specified the rubber wheels and metal body updates will be applied to Cup Series ARC cars.

“The upgrades will only impact NASCAR Cup Series 1/64 cars in the ARC line and not NASCAR Authentics which are sold at a different SRP in mass retail,” Michelle Fannin of Lionel Racing said.

A consistent complaint among 1/64 scale collectors has been the high threshold of units that must be pre-ordered for 1/64 scale diecasts to reach production. The minimum order quantity, or MOQ, was previously 2,500 units and has been significantly reduced to 1,500 units, Lionel Racing confirmed to Diecast Mag.

  1. 1:64 MOQ was 5000? I thought it was 2500. No wonder so many of them DNP’d.
