Top five priciest 1/24 sales of August 2026

Carson Hocevar is another driver making consistent appearances on the top-five list this year, and two of his cars earn spots in August.

At No. 5 is Hocevar’s 2021 Plan B Sales Niece Motorsports truck. The autographed, color chrome version is one of just 72 produced. It sold for $1,000 Aug. 8. This marks the second month the autographed, Color Chrome No. 42 has commanded an impressive figure. In July, another version sold for $950.

Hocevar also takes the No. 2 spot. An Elite autographed version of the “Hurricane’s” 2025 Chili’s Ride the ‘Dente 1/24 sold Aug. 14 for $1,250. Of note, the 1/24 was apparently signed in person.

Another example of the 122 Elite units sold in May for $1,076.

Lionel Racing commemorated Kyle Larson’s 2025 Cup Series title with a special Ice finish 2X Champion diecast. The third priciest sale for August is the door-number example of this series. DIN No. 5 of 504 Ice units produced commanded $1,125 and 13 bids when it sold Aug. 12. The car was relisted after originally selling for $2,025 with 22 bids on Aug. 2.

The runner-up is a unique custom commemorating one of Dale Earnhardt Sr.’s earliest rides.

According to the seller, gfb00, Earnhardt raced the No. 87 John Barnes Construction Co. 1960 Ford Falcon at Metrolina Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina against his father, Ralph Earnhardt. The listing states the race combined the Super Sport and Charger divisions, and Earnhardt Sr. finished in third.

The custom 1/24 used a Franklin Mint Falcon as a base and includes modified wheel openings, a custom-build hood scoop and front and rear bars, a roll cage, exhaust, race wheels and tires.

The custom earned 31 bids and sold for an impressive $1,225 Aug. 26.  

The most expensive 1/24 sale for August comes from 2014. That year, Dale Earnhardt Jr. ran a National Guard Superman scheme at Charlotte and Michigan. For Charlotte, the Superman scheme sported red numbers, and at Michigan, they were gold. Lionel Racing took this opportunity to effectively create a quasi-lottery for the Superman 1/24s.

Over, 5,000 standard versions were produced with the red numbers, but 288 additional gold-number versions were randomly released with the production run. Similarly, 88 gold-number versions were produced for the 700-plus Elite versions. The Superman 1/24s included the production numbers of both versions, keeping which example a buyer received a mystery until the box was opened.

With the limited number of gold-number versions, they have become highly sought after, evidenced by one example earning the top spot for August. A gold-number Elite version sold Aug. 5 for $2,000.

This nearly matches the sale price of another Elite gold-number version with sold for $1,989 last September, which also was the top 1/24 sale for that month.

Top five priciest 1/64 sales of August 2026

The No. 5 car this month is a relatively obscure release that has gained attraction in recent months; Jeff Gordon’s 1996 Racing Champions chrome “Chase” car.

The carded 1/64s were special releases in the late 1990s featuring chrome finishes and a limited production run. Gordon’s ’96 DuPont Monte Carlo was among the 1996 Edition releases with a run of 1,996 units.

Though “Racing Champions” and “limited release” are mutually exclusive in most cases, Gordon’s chrome No. 24 is highly desirable among certain collectors. As such, one example, No. 593 in the production run, sold Aug. 2 for $154.50 and earned 20 bids.

Notably, another Gordon “Chase” 1/64 example sold in December for $150. A 1/24 version, a clear-window bank and one of just 166 units, sold last month for $1,275.

Red Bull Racing cars have been mainstays of the priciest 1/64s sold for over a year, though typically only the rides of Brian Vickers or AJ Allmendinger earn top dollar. This month, however, it’s Scott Speed landing at No. 4 on the list. Speed’s 2009 Red Bull No. 82 COT sold Aug. 9 for $165.

Still, that’s not the only Red Bull 1/64 this month.

Allmendinger’s 2007 Red Bull COT, signed in person, commanded $250 Aug. 15, the most expensive 1/64 sold in August.

Carson Hocevar’s 2024 No. 77 Zeigler Camaro lands at No. 3 with a sale of $200.50 with an impressive 27 bids entered, further underscoring the incredible surge in the “Hurricane’s” diecasts.

At No. 2 is the first 2026 1/64 earning a spot on the monthly top five list. A 1/64 example of Kyle Busch’s Rebel Root Beer Whiskey 2026 ride. Busch raced the scheme to a 12^th-place finish at Circuit of the Americas in March.
