The priciest eBay diecast auctions of July had a distinct 1980s flavor with three spots occupied by diecasts commemorating the 1987 and 1988 seasons.

The No. 5 most expensive diecast was also the most modern, Kyle Larson’s 2016 Sprint Showdown “race winner” No. 42 1/24. Larson won a memorable Segment Two of the all-star race, banging and battling future teammate Chase Elliott to the line for the win. The auction winner snagged Larson’s win for $515 among 33 bids.  

Dale Earnhardt makes the first of two appearances for July with the No. 4 spot. Earnhardt’s 1987 Wrangler Monte Carlo Aerocoupe Elite attracted nine bids and sold for $600.

Jeff Gordon, who was in the Fox Sports booth and called Larson’s Sprint Showdown segment win, figuratively earns the third-highest sale of July with one of his most sought-after diecasts.  Gordon’s 2006 Sonoma win was exclusively offered to DuPont employees, driving up the figurative rarity of the raced win 1/24. The example, which sold July 17, was described by the seller as having window fogging and a chip on the front bumper. But underscoring the desirability of this exclusive diecast, it still garnered 21 bids and a sale of $630.

The top two July auction sales both belong to JDK Customs (who also appeared on last month’s list).

The runner-up spot in highest price goes to JDK Customs’ 1988 Dale Earnhardt IROC Camaro which raced at the June 11, 1988 IROC race according to the seller. The gold Earnhardt custom earned 30 bids topping out at $643.89.

The top diecast eBay auction sale for July is JDK Customs’ 1987 Richard Petty Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2 Aerocoupe. The Grand Prix Aerocoupe hasn’t been offered as a diecast, though models of the car were sold, so the custom offers a completely unique Richard Petty diecast.  The King’s 1987 ride sold for $650 and garnered 33 bids.
