The priciest 1/24 NASCAR diecast eBay sales of July includes several firsts since Diecast Mag began tracking such sales in June 2024. A Truck Series diecast, a Racing Champions release and two drivers all make their debut on the list. And for the first time since February, Justin Allgaier’s 2025 Traveller Whiskey 2025 Daytona 500 car doesn’t earn a spot on the list.

At No. 5 this month is the first Racing Champions diecast to appear on the list, and a unique one at that.

Racing Champions released a clear-window bank Premier Edition of Jeff Gordon’s 1996 Dupont No. 24. Unlike standard Racing Champions 1/24s, the Premier Edition featured an opening hood and engine, a serial number, a chrome finish and limited production. Just 166 units of Gordon’s Premier Edition Monte Carlo were produced.

One of these, serial No. 106, sold in July for an impressive $925, its value increased by Gordon signing the hood in person, according to the seller.

At No. 4 is the first of Denny Hamlin’s three Daytona 500 wins. Hamlin secured his first Daytona 500 win in 2016 with Lionel releasing standard, Color Chrome and Elite Raced Win 1/24s. Though the standard version had a production run of 1,057 units, securing one of the 2016 Daytona 500 winners is no easy task. This is evidenced by a standard version, signed by Hamlin on the front windshield, selling for $999 on July 28.

The third highest-grossing sale of July appears to be Dale Earnhardt’s 1997 Goodwrench Chevy produced by Winner’s Circle. The listing does not give much detail to the diecast itself, instead focusing on Earnhardt’s signature on the front windshield, which was deemed legitimate by an authentication company. Despite the lower-level quality of the diecast, The Intimidator’s signature is apparently still enough to garner a significant sale price of $999.95.

eBay/Bigboys Sports Collectibles

With the release of Shane van Gisbergen’s 2025 Red Bull Elite Gold, of which just 36 examples will be produced, in late July, it’s likely SVG will reappear on this list soon after those limited 1/24s are shipped (and subsequently listed on eBay). In the meantime, the Kiwi driver makes his first appearance on the top eBay sales list of the month coming in at No. 2.

A door-number, Elite Color Chrome version of SVG’s 2024 Wendy’s Saucy Nuggs Kaulig Racing No. 16, which was driven at the 2024 Chicago Street Race, sold July 6 for $1,000. The Elite Color Chrome version of the Saucy Nuggs car is limited to just 24 units.

The first Truck Series diecast to make the monthly list of top sales also takes the top spot for 1/24 sales in July.

Landing at No. 1 is an autographed version of Chase Elliott’s first truck series win when the rookie driver took the win at the 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 250 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. The diecast, one of just 150 autographed versions, sold July 11 for $1,250.

The top-five 1/24s of July span three decades of NASCAR history. Meanwhile, the three highest-priced 1/64s of July are solely from NASCAR’s Car of Tomorrow era.

At No. 3 is a Casey Mears’ 2007 National Guard Chevrolet COT, the only 1/64 diecast of the driver produced while he was racing the No. 25. An RCCA/Motorsports Authentics Platinum Series release, Mears’ COT garnered an impressive 24 bids and sold for $156.50 on July 27.

Mears had several Gen4 National Guard rides produced in 1/64 scale in 2007, including his Charlotte Raced Win camo scheme produced by Winner’s Circle. Action and Winner’s Circle also released COT versions of Mears’ 2008 ride in the No. 5 for HMS.

The 2025 1/64 Red Bull cars of Connor Zilisch and Shane van Gisbergen began arriving to collectors in July, but that hasn’t lessened the desirability of Red Bull’s first foray into NASCAR. Once again, a COT-era Red Bull car earns a spot in the most expensive sales of the month with Brian Vickers’ 2009 1/64 Red Bull Toyota selling July 18 for $162.50.

The highest sale for 1/64s in July is a Petty Enterprises COT with a complicated background involving Bobby Labonte and Reed Sorenson.

Petty Enterprises reportedly did not secure a sponsor with Labonte in the No. 43 for 2009 amid its merger with Gillett Evernham Motorsports. Labonte was released from his contract, and soon Reed Sorenson — who was previously expected to drive the No. 10 for GEM in 2009 — was tapped to drive the No. 43 in 2009 for the newly dubbed Richard Petty Motorsports.

Sponsorship remained somewhat of an issue for the No. 43 if the number of primary sponsors for the car that year, 11, is any indication. Among them was Super 8 Motels, which sponsored the No. 43 in the spring Atlanta race and fall Charlotte race.

This led to a promotional Super 8 Motels 2009 1/64 diecast. Trouble was, the box bore Labonte’s signature though he was no longer a part of the team. Perhaps the ink had dried on the promo diecast deal before it was announced Labonte would not be returning to the team in 2009. No matter, the Super 8 COT’s name rail was blank, and Labonte’s signature was on the 1/64 box despite Sorenson driving the car.

Given its promotional nature, plus the driver mix-up, and its status as one of just two 1/64 Sorenson diecasts produced while he was driving for RPM, and the Super 8 Motels No. 43 is among the hardest-to-find 1/64 COTs. A notable 37 bids were entered for one offered on eBay in early July, driving the price up to an impressive $222.49, making it the priciest eBay auction of July for 1/64 NASCAR diecasts.
